In the last blog we discussed the Extension deadline for people filing their taxes late. Here we fill you in on all the other dates you should be aware of.

The Quick List of Deadlines by Category: May through April
Deadlines falling on a weekend or holiday will be moved to the next business day.

Deadline: Applies to:
May 15: to file information returns (Form 990) or request an extension Non-Profit organization
June 15: to pay 2nd quarter estimated tax payments Those who pay Estimated Tax
June 15: to file individual tax returns and to pay any tax due, or to request a 4-month extension US Citizen Living Abroad
June 30: to file Report of Foreign Bank Accounts (required if you have over $10,000 in aggregate held in foreign bank accounts) Owners of Foreign Bank Accounts
September 15: to pay 3rd quarter estimated tax payments Those who pay Estimated tax
September 15: to file corporate tax returns if an extension was requested Corporation
September 15: to file partnership tax returns if an extension was requested Partnership
October 15: final deadline to pay individual tax returns with extension Individual or family
January 15: to pay 4th quarter estimated tax payments
Note that if you file your return by January 31st, paying your balance in full, you can skip this estimated payment.
Those who pay Estimated Tax
January 31: to mail out W-2s to employees, or 1099 statements to subcontractors Business or Employer
February 15: to file a new Form W-4 Employee wanting to claim exemption from withholding
March 1: to file your individual tax return and pay the balance due without incurring any late payment penalties Farmer or Fisherman with a balance due on your taxes
March 15: to file corporate tax returns, or to request extension Corporation
April 15: to file your Form 1040, pay taxes due, or to request an Extension.
Note: You should submit your tax payment along with Extension request
Individual or Family
April 15: also to make a retroactive contribution to a traditional IRA, Roth IRA, HAS, SEP-IRA or solo 401K for the 2012 tax year Individual or Family
April 15: to pay 1st quarter estimated taxes Those who pay Estimated Taxes
April 15: final deadline to file original or amended tax return from three years ago and still claim a refund Late filer
April 15: to file partnership tax returns, or request a 5-month extension Partnership
